THE ROAD

TO FRANCE

After finishing second in their qualifying group, the Dutch - just as in 2015 - needed to negotiate the perilous play-off route to secure their spot. They did so in style though, beating Denmark in the semi-finals and then Switzerland by identical 4-1 aggregate scorelines

THE COACH

Sarina Wiegman

The Netherlands have reached unprecedented heights since Wiegman's appointment in January 2017. She led the Oranje Leeuwinen to their first-ever major title in the UEFA Women's EURO in 2017 and was honoured with The Best FIFA Women’s Coach 2017 award in the wake of that triumph.

THE STAR

Lieke Martens

A superb dribbler whose intelligence and innate ability helps determine the rhythm of the Netherlands' play. Martens, who impressed in her country's FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign, emerged as the star player as the Dutch won the UEFA Womens EURO on home soil and was named The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2017.
