Lydia Nsekera was the Burundi Football Federation (FFB) President from 2004 until 2013 and has been on the International Olympic Committee since 2009. Before that, she was Vice-President of Burundi’s Women’s Football Committee and helped launch the country’s first national women’s league. After a stint at the helm of FFB’s Competitions Committee, she became the first woman to hold a seat on FIFA’s Executive Committee.
