Modric reflects on his best year

The Best FIFA Football Awards

"I pushed myself and believed in myself, even in difficult times"

Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric collected The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 award in London on Monday evening. Visibly moved by the experience, he later shared his feelings with FIFA.com about the stunning 2017/18 season that led to this crowning moment.

The artful playmaker capped off an incredible year that saw him lead Croatia to the country's best ever finish at the FIFA World Cup™, where he was awarded the adidas Golden Ball for being the tournament's best player. Before his Russia 2018 journey, he played an instrumental role in Real Madrid's run to an incredible third consecutive UEFA Champions League triumph.

Modric reflects on these achievements and puts them into context of his life and his voyage to the very top of world football.
